What was at the end of dead space

Such an ending would set up new versions of Dead Space 2 and 3 , allowing EA Motive to get even more creative with the two games. Things that did work, like the introduction of Ellie and Carver, could be kept. On the other hand, the forced co-op and increased action focus could be left behind. Much like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project is giving fans something new to look forward to, while still remaking iconic moments from the original game, Dead Space could find itself going in the same direction.

Becoming both a remake and reboot could provide fans with some thrilling future games, and with a Dead Space 2 developer working on this remake , planting some seeds for the sequel would make sense. Seeing Isaac strapped down as he finds himself stuck in another horrifying adventure would be a much more interesting cliffhanger, as it would give longtime fans something else to look forward to.

While the best option would be a complete change, including a Dead Space 2 teaser would also be nice. With the Dead Space remake using cut content from the original , adding some entirely new content alongside it would make sense.

This may or may not be related to Nicole's appearance on this deck as well. It is very unlikely that the necromorphed Nicole that attacks Isaac is a hallucination. Though the Marker was extremely close to Isaac right before he blasts off in the shuttle, by the time necro-Nicole appears, he is definitely way out in space and much farther from it than he had ever been while he was on the Ishimura.

More to the point, the shuttle wasn't the only thing right next to the Marker - there was also a humongous chunk of rock smashing into the planet and causing a massive explosion. While it may have been modeled after an alien device, and maybe even used the same materials to build it, I doubt the Marker could survive through having something that size landing on top of it and exploding. I also don't think the Marker could continue to create hallucinations if it was totally obliterated - and even if it could, I don't think it would be enough of a jerk to mess with Isaac like that.

So it is probably safe to guess that the necro-Nicole is actually there, in the cockpit, attacking Isaac. However, there's one more thing that even calls that into question. If the hive mind is dead, shouldn't all the necromorphs cease to function? After all, they were all being controlled by it telepathically - I would assume that once it had died, they would all basically become dormant.

And even if Isaac had only wounded the Hive Mind or something and caused it to retreat but it was still alive, it also had the gigantic piece of Aegis VII fall on it and explode shortly thereafter. So, like the Marker, it is probably safe to assume that the Hive Mind is out of the picture as well - which leaves the remaining necromorphs quite literally brain-dead.

And yet Necro-Nicole, who for some reason had not bothered Kynes, Kendra or Isaac in any of their earlier trips on the shuttle, comes out of nowhere and flings herself at Isaac. I'm not saying these are the ONLY possible explanations - I am just saying those are the only ones I can think of right now, and I'm bringing up these points so that people can help to figure out explanations which are more satisfying than the two I listed.

In conclusion: How could Nicole have still been alive when Isaac meets her on the mining deck; at what point did she become a necromorph; how many times when we saw her was she just a hallucination; why did she not attack Kynes, Kendra, or Isaac when they had been flying the shuttle before; and why is she even there and functioning, since she very likely can't be a hallucination, and the Hive Mind is very likely dead?

With the necromophs dropping usable items while Isaac is protecting Nicole, it is safe to say someone is there and Isaac is not hallucinating. It is probable that it is not truely Nicole but some other female with Isaac transferring Nicole's image onto someone else.

Isaac wants to believe Nicole is alive so its not a stretch for him in this one instance to picture Nicole helping him when in reality it is another female. What puzzles me is this Marker being the origin of all necromorphs and the hive mind. This Marker is so powerful that it can cause hallucinations to have others come to its aide there is no denying that it does cause hallucinations and the hallucinations repeatedly say "Make us whole again".

It brings up one HUGE question : Why on God's green Earth does the Hive Mind keep sending necromorphs after Isaac to directly stop his attempt to bring the Marker home home being used as a generic term for the place where the marker wants to go. If Isaac is being manipulated mentally to do the Markers bidding, then why do all the necromorphs keep trying to stop him every chance they get?

Thats one gaping hole in this entire games construct. Flaws in logic like this make me just grab the nearest weapon and run around like mad shooting, a reminder that its only a shooter game and a concrete solid storyline really isnt necessary.

I would quite like to add my two pence into this discussion as well. I appologise that I have not read all of this but I wanted to write this down before I forgot it. It goes back to Nicole helping Isaac open the door: Is it not possible that while the Necromorphs that attack Isaac are real, Nicloe and the Necromorphs that attack her are halucinations.

When Isaac shoots at them he imagins the bullet impacts and the Necromorphs dying. It might not stand up in court, as it were, but i think that is a very plausible suggestion.

Before I go I must say sorry for any spelling mistakes that I have inadvertantly put in here. Spelling isn't my best subject.

Regarding the nicole opening the door:Perhaps it was dr kyne or somebody, maybe hammond? Another thing that helps is the fact that Kyne knew isaacs name when he contacted him when isaac was on the USM valor, and one last thing, maybe the "make us whole thing" means to become infected and join whoever's saying it like like isaac would join nicole. Oh crap, almost forgot,i think the nicole at the end bit IS a hallucination, after, you see unitologist markings when she jumps at isaac, which indicates heavily that necro-nicole is a hallucination.

I'd just like to point out that is it not possible that Kendra could have altered the video log? She is a government operative, with computer expertise and she spent long enough in the computer core onboard the Ishimura to doctor the video, and could be just using the video to break Isaac's spirit.

I prefer to believe that Nicole is alive until you reach the colony. At some point then she must get attacked and necromorphed. Since some necromorphs "play dead" or don't become active unless you disturb them i. Relating to the statement that the necro-Nicole attacking Isaac at the end is a hallucination, if you notice, just before Isaac notices the rustling noise beside him, it goes dark for a moment. I think maybe this could be a time for some sort of black out and when Isaac starts hallucinating.

My friend also stated that he saw shadows behind Isaac before being attacked by necro-Nicole. Not that that really has anything to do with the hallucinating, because it's common in Dead Space.

The Hivemind is dead , yet the necromorph of Nicole attacked Isaac. In my opion the Hive Mind may have survived the fight with Isaac, but it should have been killed by the falling chunk of rock.

Is it possible there could be a second or more "Hive Minds" on other planets and ships like the Ishimura. One of these hive minds would have been controlling the Necromorph of Nicole and spoiler alert the ones attacking the The Sprawl. A other point is however, even if the Hivemind is dead, the Necromorphs can become 'insane' and strike out on their own, or even create a new Hivemind by piling up on each other.

I agree with whoever posted this, because the necromorphs seem to be a lot like the zerg from starcraft, and when the zerg hive was destroyed the zerg on chal sara went berserk. I just want to add a new perspective regarding the appearance of Nicole on the minig bay. I noticed that there is a consensus around here about that event not being a complete allucination, and there is actually a person in front of Isaac, whether or not is Nicole. My sugestion is, what if it was actually Nicole?

And I mean, a living, breathing, non-necromorphed Nicole? Maybe she's not dead after all. Maybe her suicide, for whatever reasons, was not successfull.
